Calculate pro-rated salary

Work out how much to pay when a monthly-rated employee did not work the full month.

How incomplete month salary is calculated

MOM defines incomplete month pay for monthly-rated employees as monthly gross rate of pay divided by the total working days in that month, multiplied by days actually worked. No-pay leave is treated as an incomplete month calculation.

Assumptions

  • Total working days exclude rest days and non-working days, but include public holidays.
  • Days actually worked can include paid leave and public holidays when the employee is entitled.
  • The calculator accepts half-days as decimals.

What this does not cover

  • Does not decide whether a specific absence counts as paid or unpaid.
  • Does not calculate CPF on the prorated salary. Use the CPF calculator after this step.

Worked examples

Mid-month joiner

S$4,000 salary, 22 working days, 15 worked days gives S$2,727.27.

No-pay leave

Count paid days actually worked and exclude approved unpaid leave days.

Half-day case

Use 0.5 for a half-day when the employee worked 5 hours or less.
